More Homophobia from The Age newspaper

|
A few days ago I brought you the article from The Age newspaper that ranted against gay parenting. Now comes a business quiz from the same paper that uses "gay" as an insult:

21. THE aforementioned national broadband network is important because:
(a) Facebook is, like, being really gay and taking forever to load
(b) It is about the only form of electronic communication in Australia in which Telstra does not (yet) have its fingers
(c) Rural dwellers are currently disadvantaged when trying to get the hell out and find a house/job in the Big Smoke
(d) No child should be living on dial-up in 2010
(e) It will give most Australians long overdue access to a higher standard of internet access

What more do you expect from this right-wing rag?

|
Brisbane Times reports:

The dad allegedly phoned a prostitute and arranged to meet her at a motel on Yaamba Road, North Rockhampton. The father drove his son to the motel and paid the prostitute in $50 notes.
The prostitute took the boy into a motel room while the father waited on a balcony.

The dad walked in and out of the room to check on his son and told him he wanted to see a used condom as proof that they'd had sex.

Gay Bashing by The Age Newspaper

|

Another typical "the gays are bad and shouldn't raise kids" homophobic article appeared in today's Age newspaper.

Here's a snippet of the hateful article, where gays are seen as selfish people who shouldn't raise kids because they turn kids gay while heterosexuals remain the only ones good at parenting:
Run to mummy, kid. Waddya mean, which one?

What a tangled web we weave when the clever human race begins to meddle with nature. In the Irish courts this month a homosexual man won an injunction to stop two lesbians moving to Australia.

That’s because the lesbians have a son and he provided the sperm. He’s the non-resident non-connubial dad. The wonders of test-tube baby-making.

The three gays were pals when the baby plan was hatched but the ladies have fallen out with the bloke and want to take the offspring away and live in the Land Down Under. He, the test-tube papa, doesn’t want to lose contact.

So-called ''critics'' have reportedly scoffed at Ireland’s ''outdated'' 1937 constitution, which struggles to deal with this particular scenario – the document (how quaint!) still defines parents as ''a married man and woman''.  Yes, I know, it’s an old-fashioned concept but until clever humans become even cleverer, it still DOES require the ingredients of both genders to create life.
But what a right old mess for the poor kid to comprehend. He's three years old now but what will he make of this trio of wrangling  gay ''parents'' as the years pass. Hard enough for children of today to sort out their lives without that sort of tangled mix of sexuality among their nurturers, I would have thought.

According to the judge, Supreme Court Justice Susan Denham, the two lesbians provided ''a loving stable home'' for the lad but Irish law identified the homosexual sperm donor as ''the father'' so he is staking his claim. How strange life has become when a man and woman who have no sexual contact or attraction -- and now hate each other -- can produce a child.

And you wonder what impact gay parenting will have on the lad. The usual gay-rights line is that children of homosexual households have no more or less inclination to live homosexual lifestyles themselves but that may not necessarily be the case. A Longitudinal Study of Lesbian Families’ in 1999  by Susan Golombok and Fiona Tasker found that 15 per cent of 39 children raised in 27 lesbian families had gone on to have a gay relationship. That compares with none of the kids from a comparative  group of heterosexual families.  And that also compares with about two or three percent of the general community who identify as exclusively homosexual. It doesn’t do much for the old gay-rights argument that homosexuals are born, not made, does it?

Back in the 1970s the law courts would not award custody to mothers who had turned lesbian and left a heterosexual marriage. The view was that lesbian motherhood was not a healthy nurturing environment but that view seems to have changed in the law's eyes.

However, let's face it,  there are plenty of dysfunctional hetero parents raising kids. So many that  I've long held the view that humans should need a licence to breed.

So is a child going to be any worse off with a mother, a ''co-mother'' and a gay ''dad''? I don’t know. You tell me.

Comments? I know I'll be boycotting the Age from now on.

Man convicted of indecent exposure for being naked in his own home: US

|
Erick Williamson, from Fairfax County, was arrested for being naked in his own home back in October was found guilty on Friday of indecent exposure, but the judge did not fine him or sentence him to jail. He has immediately appealed his conviction.

Williamson continued to believe that he had done nothing wrong and that he did not purposely expose himself to two women and a 7-year-old boy who walked past his house the morning of Oct. 19.

A seven-person jury in misdemeanor appeals court will rule on the propriety of Williamson's domestic nudity in February.

"That's outrageous. It's unbelievable." He said publicity from the arrest had cost him a job as a commercial diver. "I'm the victim," William said.

Judie Ian O'Flaherty actually likened Williamson to bank robber John Dillinger, who also "thought he was doing nothing wrong when he walked into banks and shot them up."

Ricky Martin denounces Homophobia

|
 Ricky said on his website:
As a human rights activist for many years, I've been able to witness countless miracles. I've seen the amazing capacity that human beings have to heal; I've seen governments and private citizens try to change public policies and fight battles of love that have resulted in a positive impact on our society. I've seen boys and girls from different parts of the world free themselves from the bondage of human trafficking (the slavery of the new era) and amazing people renounce their "lives of luxury" to help those who need it most. Witnessing miracles of all kinds has strengthened the faith in humanity that my parents instilled in me, which is the same faith that I try to pass on to my children every day. When I watch them discovering the world, I think kindness is one of the greatest virtues that I can teach them.

Just some eye-candy for you all, Chris Carrabba shirtless...

I keep seeing searches for "Chris Carraba shirtless" and his famous umbrella pic, so I thought I'd do a little digging and managed to find this picture here. Mmmm, this guy is buff!If you don't know, Chris is the lead singer of Dashboard Confessional, and former frontman of Further Seems Forever. Just click on the image for the larger version.
I thought I'd come up with some puns to go with it like... "He can dash by board anytime!." Or "A Mark A Mission, an ooh, an ahhh!" or "I wouldn't mind screaming his fidelity." or "I'd love to swallow his bitter pill". I think I'll stop there.

Herald Sun labels Peter Ikin's partner his “husband” in sarcastic quotes

|

Pointing out it's obvious hostility at the idea of a gay husband, the Daily Telegraph (sister paper to the Herald Sun) labelled the late Australian Music Producer, Peter Ikin's lover sarcastically as his "husband" twice in the article, despite being legally married in a civil union in the United Kingdom last year.

Alexandre Despallieres has reportedly agreed to drop his claim to his partner's estate, estimated at least $15 million, and return his ashes to Australia under an agreement with the Ikin family.

Despallieres was accused of presenting himself as an internet billionaire with a terminal brain tumour in order to convince Ikin into marrying him. A will leaving the entire estate to Despallieres is alleged to have been forged, family lawyers claimed in the UK High Court last week.

"A lot of people in Australia will have a sour taste in their mouth. He's got away with it," said John Bircham friend.

No mention of Ikin's sexuality or husband was spoken by the Australian media when he passed away last year.

"I wasn't sure if I ever wanted to let people know and, to be honest, I feel anxious about people's reactions.

"It's been really tough for me, hiding who I really am, and I don't want it to be like that for the next young person who wants to play rugby, or some frightened young kid."
